Our business was founded in 2019 with a goal and a dream. Our goal was to open a small shop to help fund the adoption of our three children with Down syndrome. Our dream was to expand and use the shop as a vehicle to provide meaningful employment to adults within our community with intellectual disabilities, including, one day, those very children the Apothecary helped bring home.
Our product line is carefully curated each season, using only the most wholesome ingredients. Within our line, you will always find nods to our children's birth country, which is one of the largest producers in the world of lavender and rose oil. You will also see a heavy appreciation for the mighty bee, as almost every item contains beeswax and/or honey, both hard working natural ingredients with numerous benefits to the skin.
After each item is hand crafted, hand poured and hand made in our studio north of Richmond, Virginia, we hand off the packing and order fulfillment to our team of exceptional adults. From there, the items are on their way to your home!
Because every item is hand made, we operate on a pre order market structure. Twice a year, Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter, we open our shop for orders and offer a seasonal line up of old favorites and limited edition products. This allows us to eliminate waste and create a predictable work flow for our assistants. Due to this structure, orders take a little extra time to fulfill, but we believe both our products and our mission are worth the wait.
